Local Neighborhood Guide

Hyde Park

Packed with charm, history, and some of Austin’s treasured restaurants, Hyde Park traces its roots to 1891 when streetcar service connected it to the rest of Austin. Once known as Austin’s first suburb, Hyde Park today attracts homebuyers for the single-family homes that make up most of the neighborhood’s housing stock.

North Loop

Austin’s North Loop neighborhood is home to a string of iconic restaurants along Airport Boulevard, including In-N-Out Burger, the Omelettry, Tyson’s Tacos, and JewBoy Burgers. ACC Highland

Anderson Mill, TX

This Austin suburb is located about 17 miles north of downtown Austin along Route 183. Anderson Mill was annexed by Austin in 2008. Anderson Mill is part of the Round Rock Independent School District.

Cedar Park, TX

About 16 miles northwest of downtown Austin, Cedar Park honors its namesake with 1,000 acres of city-owned parkland and a 30-mile network of trails. This fast-growing Austin suburb had a U.S. Census 2020 population of more than 77,000. Cedar Park’s outdoor amenities hold great appeal for residents who love the active lifestyle.

Jollyville, TX

Located about 20 miles north of downtown Austin, Jollyville is a growing suburban community with a 2020 population of about 32,000. Jollyville is part of the Round Rock Independent School District.

Kyle, TX

Situated about 20 miles south of Austin, Kyle is a thriving city of almost 46,000 people according to the 2020 U.S. Census. Kyle is the official Pie Capital of Texas and the home of the celebrated Texas Pie Company. Lakeway, TX

An Auston exurb, Lakeway is located on the south shore of Lake Travis nestled in the scenic Texas Hill Country. Leander, TX

Located about 30 miles north of Austin, Leander has achieved dramatic population growth since 2010. The fastest growing city in the entire country between 2018 and 2019, Leander more than doubled its population between 2010 and 2020, coming in with a 2020 count of about 59,000.

Pflugerville, TX

With a 2020 U.S. Census population of about 63,600 people, Pflugerville is one of Austin’s many fast-growing suburban communities. Money magazine ranked Pflugerville as one the country’s best places to live in 2012 and 2013, 2015, and 2017 for its recreational facilities and its roster of community festivals. Pflugerville offers its residents 155 miles of trails. Community festivals include the Pfestival of Lights and Christmas Parade and Pfishing Day at Lake Pflugerville.

Round Rock, TX

With a 2020 U.S. Census population of more than 128,000, Round Rock is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. Residents love Round Rock for its high quality of life and well-managed city services. Lady Bird Lake
