East
East Austin, the most culturally and ethnically diverse area of town, is a burgeoning real estate hot spot due to its reasonable prices, proximity to down town and its relatively low traffic congestion. Housing consists of the old and the new: lovely older Victorian style homes and pre-WW II pier and beam homes with big front porches sit on the same tree-lined streets as modern architecture and historic renovations-completed and in progress. Revitalization of mixed-use developments on East 11th and East 6th street are gaining investor attention. These older neighborhoods as well as the new developments are drawing families, professionals, students, and members of the creative class to the area. Many homes in East Austin boast spectacular views of downtown, while neighborhoods such as Delwood, French Place and Wilshire Woods on the area's northern border are just minutes from the University of Texas.
